What we buy
We will pay you for items that contain real gold. This can be broken or damaged jewelry or other gold items. The value depends on the Carat and Fineness of your gold as we melt down and refine the items you send us to produce 99,9% pure and marketable gold bullions.
Check if your jewellery is real
As we only pay for the gold content we suggest you test your items before sending them:
1. Is it magnetic?
High grade gold, silver and metals from the platinum group are non-magnetic. Even if the jewellery is not pure gold, the amount of other metals that are contained in the alloy will not be enough to make the item stick to a magnet.
You can run any magnet, even an ordinary refrigerator magnet like the ones kids often stick on the freezer door, over your items before sending them in. If your jewellery sticks to the magnet it is most likely not real gold and you should not send it to Us.
2. Check for hallmark
Most countries require that real gold jewellery be hallmarked. This means that when the item is produced it receives an official stamp indicating what grade the gold is that was used in the item. Usually the hallmark will be in an inconspicuous place such as the inside of a ring or on the back of a bracelet clasp. The hallmark usually consists of a small seal and the grade info which is either given in carat (1-24) or in finesse (1-1000 or .1-.999).
Please note that some real jewellery is not hallmarked. At the same time, there are forged items that bear an official looking stamp. Therefore, if possible please also use the magnet test to determine whether your gold jewellery is real or not.
Stones
Before you send us your jewellery you should remove any stones you want to keep. They have no value to us and are simply disposed of. If you dont mind the stones being thrown away you may leave them in the jewellery and they get removed through the melting process.
The gold content
How much we can pay for your unwanted gold is dependent upon the quality and weight of the items you send us. The hallmark will indicate the real gold content although you should be aware that these marks can sometimes be false.
If the item is not hallmarked the gold content can only be determined by an Acid or a X-Ray Fluorscence test that will be carried out by our experts once we recieve your gold.
